A Dish Best Served Cold

"And, has thou slain the Jabberwock?

Come to my arms, my beamish boy!

O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'

He chortled in his joy.”

I am near giddy. I am laughing and laughing and laughing. I heard this little tidbit in a 15 second segment of my local radio newscast. I looked through CNN, (p)MSNBC, US Today, and even Google News and I was shocked, SHOCKED, to find that it wasn’t covered. I would have figured that this great news would have been plastered across the headline banners of tons of websites.
We have turned the tide against global warming. We are winning!! (for the tree-huggers; that was sarcasm…we were never losing.)

Turns out that not one… not two… not even a mere three but, (count ‘em) ALL FOUR major global temperature tracking outlets (Hadley, NASA's GISS, UAH, RSS) have released data which shows that the warming trends of the last one hundred years have come to a screeching halt and been replaced by the “single fastest temperature change ever recorded”. The part that makes me giggle is the part where one realizes that the change was to the colder, not hotter.

And when you look at the charts one start to see that we’ve “gotten back” almost all of the (almost) one-degree rise in temp that has occurred in the last one hundred years. Meaning that it got hot for a while, and then it got cold real fast.

Let me throw my layman view onto all of this.

No one. Not one damn person on this planet predicted this. (Except maybe this guy.)

One of the principle tenets of Algore and his ilk has been that CO2 causes global warming. We have had no shortage of CO2 in the last year, especially with lesser-developed nations joining in the industrialized fray. Therefore, if Algore was right, there was no way that this cooling could have happened. If Algore was right, the massive amounts of the dangerous gas “CO2” that are currently in our atmosphere should have kept heating the planet. There is no conceivable reason; using the logic of “consensus”, that this might have happened.

The debate was over, remember?
CO2= more heat.
(No more questions please.)

So I guess the question now becomes, how do the religious left spin this?

We’re going to hear about how it’s not global warming; it’s global climate change. The “Inconvenient Acolytes” (IAs) are going to start telling us, “Of course we’re going to see dramatic changes like this. We’re doing so much damage to the planet; it’s all out of balance.” Do not be fooled my friends. This is, and always has been, about power and money.

But now that those of us who have always erred on the side of common sense have some proof that the IAs were just as wrong as we thought, what do we do?

We have to gently take our misguided friends by the hand and suggest to them that perhaps Algore is not as all-knowing as his accountant wants you to think he is. We have to reiterate to them that until meteorologists can (at least) predict the next 30 days accurately, we should NOT trust them to predict the next thirty years. And finally we must explain to them, slowly and carefully, like a child who is on the threshold of discovering the truth about Santa, the Tooth-Fairy, and Supply-Side Economics, that we should never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever think (or allow others to go on thinking) that #1) taxes can fix ANYTHING and #2) we should trust our government officials blindly.

They’re just as messed up as the rest of us.
